Stay Crafty with A Blog Named Hero: February 2023 Challenge | Animal Crackers

Hello, I’m so glad you are here!

Even though it is now officially March, there is still time to participate in the Stay Crafty with A Blog Named Hero: February 2023 Challenge | Animal Crackers! Hip Hip Hooray!

Earlier this month, I shared a card project featuring the Hero Arts Butterfly stamp and cut set. It is such a fun stamp set perfect for designing both classic, elegant cards or fun, whimsical designs.

I decided to make another project for the challenge, a super simple card design, featuring just the ladybug and flower stamps within the set. Even though these images are not the main feature of the stamp set, they can still have a role in the show! I always try to use all components of a set as a fun and creative challenge for myself!

For this card design, I began with a panel of white card stock and stamped the lady bugs and flowers spaciously using Gina K. Designs amalgam obsidian ink. I then positioned and stamped the included cursive sentiment “best wishes on your birthday” in the same ink.

Next, I used my Ohuhu pastel alcohol marker set to color in the images. I used my A2 layers dies by Waffle Flower Crafts to cut and layered the panel in black card stock. I then layered it again with an embossed panel of white card stock using the Park Lane leaves embossing folder. I adhered the final assembled panel to an A2 sized card base that I covered in a pretty floral pink pattern paper.

To finish the card, I added in a few dark and light purple gems I had left in my “use it or lose it” craft stash. I also gave the ladybugs a bit of shimmer using a dab of Crystal Stickles. I like the added glitter, however I felt like it took over the colors of the ladybugs a bit too much. If I had to choose again, I would have used an aqua shimmer pen by Nuvo (rosette) for a light touch of rose gold.

I love the classic handmade look of this card!

Thank you so much for joining me today. I’m so glad I was able to participate in the challenge over on Instagram. Definitely take time to visit A Blog Named Hero to see all this month’s wonderful and creative challenge entries. So many creative cards!

Also, I would love to have you as a fellow crafty follower over on the socials! You can find me @lanecostudio on Instagram and search Lane and Company Studio on Facebook or Pinterest.
