Simon Says Stamp | April Instagram Challenge | Old Hollywood Card Project

Simon Says Stamp Instagram Challenge Shimmer & Shine – April 2023

Today’s card design is seriously throwing some old Hollywood glamour, and I’m totally here for it!

Fun Fact: I love old Hollywood films. I enjoy watching Judy Garland, Fred Astaire, Mickey Rooney, Audrey Hepburn, James Dean and more. No one else in my house likes to watch this type of movie, so it’s rare when I am able to sit down and actually catch an old flick. When I get to though, it’s a lot of fun!

I am showcasing a beautiful floral stamp set called “Celebrate Us” by Altenew and Pinkfresh Studio. I have used this layering stamp set in previous projects as it was intended – layered. However, for this design, I wanted to separate the outline and silhouette pieces but have them still work together.

For the background, I simply used remaining Simon Says Stamp premium dye ink that was lingering on a few of my ink blending brushes. It made a pretty lilac color. Swoon! I also had some left over white paint on my glass board that was used on a different card project, so I decided to use it up! Waste not want not, right? I flicked on the left over white paint. From there, I swept my fan brush across in different directions creating wispy movement and texture!

I then positioned and stamped the main flower outline image to the card panel. Next, I took the leaf layering pieces of the set and stamped them surrounding the floral outline using Tsukineko VersaFine Claire nocturne pigment ink to achieve a clean and rich impression. This extended the design and gave it so much life! At this point I was really feeling that old Hollywood vibe!

For the sentiment, I chose a simple and classy “hello” by Honey Bee Stamps. I brought in a bit of bling (because you got to have that bling in Hollywood) by adhering a slight shadow layer of hello die cut in silver glitter card stock. I then used silver glitter Stickles to add a bit of shimmer to the inside of the floral outline to balance the design.

To finish this card panel, I used a corner rounder to the bottom edges and gave it a proper black card stock layer. I also used the corner rounder to the bottom edges of the card base. Using liquid adhesive, I adhered the finished card panel directly to the base.

As always, a BIG thank you for joining me today! A list of supplies are available for you below. Oh…. and be sure to follow me over on the socials. I would love to see you there. Until next time!
