Pretty Pink Posh | Stamp and Sketch Birthday Card Project

Thinking outside the box on today’s handmade card! I began by die cutting some Christmas trees (from the Pretty Pink Posh Village Additions die set) and gift boxes (from the Pretty Pink Posh Happy Santa set). My plan was to turn the little Christmas tree outline into fun party hats to create a birthday themed card.

Is this idea a stretch? Possibly, but overall I think it turned out really cute for the project. I always like to look at the supplies that I currently own to see if there is any way I could use them differently. So, I decided to go for it!

Using my Ohuhu pastel alcohol makers, I added color to the trees/hats and gift boxes. I then stamped in black pigment ink the gift box image onto their die cuts and set to the side to dry. Using a Timbow calligraphy pen, I sketched some outlines and details to the now party hats.

From here, I die cut the Celebrate die from Pretty Pink Posh into an A2 sized (4 1/ 4″ x 5 1/2″) card panel. Next, I ink blended a little color to the negative of the panel using teeny bikini and deep purple premium dye ink by Simon Says Stamp. I used Distress Ink worn lipstick and ink smooshed on top to achieve a fun marbled effect.

I backed the panel with a layer of black card stock and adhered the Celebrate die cut back into the die cut space on the card panel. I then positioned and added in the party hats and gift boxes to the card front using liquid adhesive and small foam squares.

To finish this card design, I added a little bit of Stickles to the tops of the hats and ribbons on the gifts.

What I love the most about this card? I love how the ink smooshing in combination with the ink blending turned out. It seemed to just blend and pop onto of the white Hammermill card stock I used. Plus, I’m digging the pretty pink paired with black and white.

What would I do differently? For the party hats, I would try embossing them with a swiss dot or star embossing folder for added texture.

Have you ever stretched your card making supplies to achieve something a bit out of the box? I encourage you to accept the challenge and give it a try!

Thank you for joining me today! I look forward to seeing you again.
