Hello my friends! I’m so excited to share a fun little card project with you that you can create just by using a scrap piece of paper cut into a circle.
It involves ink blending! Yay! So, grab your inks and your favorite blending tools and let’s get to ink blending! There is no right or wrong here. Just pick the colors you would like for your night sky and let’s begin.
I would like to take a minute and invite you to join me over on Instagram. I post there often about all the crafty things (and even some non-crafty things). I would love to see you there for the fun!
I posted a reel on this card project. Feel free to keep reading below and then pop on over to Instagram (or Facebook), I’m there too to view the reel.
To start, I used some low tack tape to secure a cut circle to an A2 sized (4 !/4″ x 5 1/2″) card panel. The circle serves as a mask while we ink blend the sky around.
For the night sky, I used premium dye inks from Simon Says Stamp in the following colors: Blue Jay, Hot Mama, Soft Navy, and Deep Purple. I started with the light colors for a base layer and then added in the darker inks into the blend. I love how the colors mingled together and made it look magical…like we were viewing the moon from space! What ink colors did you pick?
For the moon, I removed the circle and began ink blending the colors Duckling and Winter Sky to transform the white space of the circle into the moon. I would blend and also pounce my blending tool in the circle to help create a bit of dimension. I then added a light touch of Simon Says Stamp white pigment ink around the perimeter of the moon and filtering into the dark sky to soften and leave a glow.
I had a blast ink blending this scene, but the real magic took place by adding in the sprinkles of white paint to create the stars! I thinned a small amount of white acrylic paint with some water and used a fan brush to sprinkle the stars. I used my heat tool to help dry the card panel.
For the sentiment, I die cut the word “Love” from Honey Bee Stamps Bitty Buzzwords dies. I adhered this to the front of the card panel using liquid adhesive. I then stamped and heat embossed in white the word “YOU” from their coordinating stamp set. For the inside of the card, I ink blended a matching strip and adhered it to the bottom of the card. Using my favorite Tombow brush pen, I wrote the phrase “to the moon and back”.
To finish this card project, I spread around a light layer of Crystal Stickles here and there for that total cosmic feel.
If you don’t have inky fingers or paint everywhere by the end of this card, are you even living life? I’m just joking. But, seriously, it’s always fun to get a little messy in the craft room.
Thank you again for joining in today, and I’ll see you a later!
