Hello and happy February to all! Wow, I can’t believe I just said February. Time surely does fly. Happy to finally report that all Christmas decor has been decluttered, organized in bins and placed into the attic. It only took until Feb 1st. But, hey… the word of the year over here is “grace”.
Today, I’m excited to share some fun cards made with a “Hello” die that I received many moons ago along with my Cuttlebug die cutting machine. I have had my Cuttlebug for so many years. It has to be 12 years old or more. Super bummed Cricuit discontinued this product. Mine is a pretty pastel pink. I’m still using the original plates. I recently purchased an off brand magnetic plate to go with it, but I know at some point soon I will need to retire my machine. It’s been a good one for sure!
You’ll have to share with me your thoughts on which die cutting machine I should invest in next. I was looking at the Spellbinders line, but I know there are more to consider. Maybe I’ll do a poll over on Instagram to see what my fellow crafter suggest.
For card #1, I used the negative pieces of the die cut as a stencil. I chose to ink blend in rainbow order but starting with orange. Then I used my Ohuhu fine line drawing pens to make some outlines and place an ellipsis. I then stamped on a separate piece of white paper the word “friend” from a part of a sentiment by Pinkfresh Studio. I matted the card panel to some Classic Crest pewter card stock.
For card #2, I ink blended the die cut “Hello” with a light hand using ink that was left on my ink blending brushes. I then embossed with a floral embossing folder by Park Lane. I adhered the die cut to a card panel cut from a nesting stitched rectangle from Waffle Flower Crafts. I popped it up on a layer of aqua card stock that I embossed using my original Swiss dot embossing folder that came with my Cuttlebug.
For card #3, I chose to make a fun shaker. Now, I struggle with making shakers. It is not super easy for me to make, but I love them. I made this one simple as to not overwhelm myself too much. For my background, I embossed a light purple panel of card stock with a buffalo check embossing folder by Park Lane. I then used the frame left from when I die cut the panel from card #2 using my nested stitched rectangle dies and ink blended a light yellow and purple. I adhered a piece of acetate from Studio Katia to the frame and lined the back with foam strips. I added some purple and gold confetti to the inside for my shaker bits.
I love having “Hello” cards on hand. They are so nice to have in order to send a quick note to a neighbor or the school for a note to a teacher.
So, what is the oldest supply that you still have in your craft room that you still use to this day? I’d love to hear!
Thank you for stopping by today. I look forward to having you here again.
