Pretty Pink Posh | Fancy Cake Birthday Card Project

A happy hello to all you amazing crafters and card makers on this fine Wednesday morning! Today, I’m excited to share with you a birthday shaker card project featuring Pretty Pink Posh’s Fancy Cake Dies.

To begin this festive card, I ink smooshed a card panel with Distress Oxide Picked Raspberry ink. Once dry, I die cut the fancy cake dies in the ink smooshed card stock and then again in white card stock. I layered the cake die cut to give it more stability, attached the stitched accent pieces, and added a touch of yellow alcohol marker to a few of the candle flames.

Next, I embossed an A2 sized (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) card panel using a Swiss dot embossing folder to serve as my background of the shaker card. I then assembled the frame with acetate and raised it by adhering foam strips underneath the frame edges. I filled the center of the Swiss dot background with a combination of sprinkles and jewels and carefully lined up the raised acetate frame and adhered it on top.

Finally, I lined the back of my fancy cake with 1/8″ Tear Riffic tape and adhered it to the front of the acetate. I added color (ombre style) to my die cut sentiment “hip hip hooray” using a medium and light purple alcohol marker. I then secured using liquid adhesive to the cake.

On the inside of the card, I stamped an additional birthday sentiment from the Birthday sentiment stamp set by Pretty Pink Posh.

This card is officially ready to be stuffed with a special gift card and given to my little sister who is a cake artist! I hope your birthday is full of all your favorite things like fancy cakes and sprinkles. 🙂
