Happy Friday my crafty friends! I’m so glad that you decided to take a bit of your time to stop by for a visit today. It does my heart good as I hope it does yours.
I’m not going to lie, this week has been nothing but me stamping with one set, I Chews You, from Simon Says Stamp. There are so many adorable images on this set. I’m probably going to continue (hopefully you won’t get tired of my use of the punny sentiments), but I simply don’t want to put this set away quite yet.
Today’s card project features the cutest little oven and cinnamon roll! I used masking magic to pull together this simple design. If you’ve never used masking magic, it is super fun. I encourage you to give it a try!
To begin, I stamped the images onto a section of masking magic using Gina K. Designs amalgam ink. I fussy cut them out and put them to the side. I then took a piece of Hammermill white card stock and stamped the tiny cinnamon roll image first. I placed my matching cinnamon roll masked image on top. Next, I positioned the oven stamp to where it would look like the cinnamon roll is sitting on top of the oven. I wanted to make sure not to cover the face of the oven, and not have the cinnamon roll hang off the edge of the oven. I stamped the oven image on top and covered with the matching masking magic.
For the background, I decided to use my Waffle Flower duo tone heart stencil to ink blend a kitchen wall. I chose Distress Oxide Picked Raspberry and Mermaid Lagoon, with Wilted Violet for the floor. I left a horizontal space in between which I later colored with alcohol markers.
For coloring the images, I chose my Ohuhu pastel alcohol art markers. I have the Honolulu set with the fine and brush tips. I love them so much! I find myself choosing these over and over because I love the color selection. It is different and fun. Of course I chose to make the oven a vintage pink. I mean, why not?
I die cut the card panel using my most favorite stitched rectangle die from Waffle Flower Crafts and layered it with panels of classic crest pewter card stock and aqua card stock.
To complete this card design, I added a series of dots and sketch lines to the scene using an Ohuhu black fine liner drawing pen and added a layer of Glossy Accents to the oven door and icing on the cinnamon roll. It is hard to photograph Glossy Accents, but I promise it is there and is more noticeable in person. It adds a fun feature to the card design.
