Thank You Mini Showcase 1 | Mixed Media Vintage Rose Bouquet Card Project

We are in the season of thank you notes right now as my kids participate in sport and school fundraisers. So, thank you cards are being mailed out! In the coming weeks, most of my cards will have a thankful theme, so get ready!

As I experiment with the beautiful world of watercolor, I like to use embossing folders as a canvas to paint. I have ordered a new pack of watercolor paper, and it’s on its way as I type. Yahoo! In the meantime, I’m using my Strathmore smooth Bristol paper. It handles the watercolors and ALL my other mediums nicely.

To begin this card, I cut my paper A2 sized (5 1/2 x 4 1/4) and embossed using a rose bouquet embossing folder by Park Lane that I purchased in a discount bin at Joann! Got to love a good crafty find!

Next, I laid down a foundation of watercolor from my Arteza pastel half-pan set. I then used my Ohuhu pastel alcohol maker set to come in and add some extra touches of color where I wanted. Then I mixed a brown and deep green from my Arteza earth tone half-pan set and spattered it across the card panel. (Won’t that make you nervous!) I then die cut into a stitched panel using my most favorite nesting rectangle dies by Waffle Flower Crafts. I then layered the panel to another layer of card stock for added stability.

I die cut the word thanks from my Bitty Buzzwords die set from Honey Bee Stamps. I just love this script. It is brings a nice modern feel to the card design. I cut the word from bright yellow card stock that I had hanging out in my scrap stash. However, I wanted to mute the color a bit. To do this, I applied a layer of white pigment ink to the top and let dry. I layered it to give it some stability and presence.

To finish this card, I die cut six little hearts that came with the scalloped box card die from Lawn Fawn from Kraft card stock. I stacked and adhered them in a series of three.

Thank you for joining me today. Stay tuned for a mini thank you card showcase! Have a wonderful day full of all your favorite things.
