Card of Many Colors | Fun with Patchwork

This card was a lot of fun to make. You can catch the reel over on Instagram @lanecostudio!

I began by collecting some leftover pieces of bright color card stock papers and die cut them into stitched squares using a square from the Lawn Fawn scalloped box card pop up lawn cuts.

I estimated where the center of the card was and adhered my first square turned on its angle to a piece of copy paper that was cut A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″). Then I just pieced all the other squares in the random pattern to create a patchwork look to the card design. I trimmed off the overhanging parts of the squares and then die cut the panel with my most favorite nesting stitched rectangle dies by Waffle Flower Crafts.

I used a scrap piece of black card stock to stamp and emboss in white a heartfelt sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh’s Thoughtful Greetings stamp set. I die cut four tiny hearts that also came with the Lawn Fawn scalloped box card pop up lawn cuts and adhered them into the spaced corners where the patchwork would corner together.

I layered the finished card panel in black card stock and secured it to the card base using liquid adhesive.

This card project reminded me of Dolly Parton’s song “Coat of Many Colors.” The song tells about how her Mama made her a coat out of many colorful rags. Her mother spoke about the story of Joseph in the Bible with his coat of many colors. Her family didn’t have much, but Dolly felt as rich as she could be in her coat of many colors.

I felt that the sweet sentiment for the card fit so perfectly.

Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope you enjoyed today’s card project as well as the reel over at Instagram.
