Simon Says Stamp | March Instagram Challenge | Make Your Own Mini Envelope | Die Cut Florals with Pretty Pink Posh

Simon Says Stamp Instagram Challenge Entry: March 2023 theme – Celebrate Spring

A few months ago, I was shopping in one of my favorite stores, Hobby Lobby. To shop in an actual brick and mortar is rare for me. From time to time, I like to go and see the fun, seasonal decor and to check out the crafting section. My pups were at the groomers nearby, so I decided to pop in on this particular day to kill some time before I could pick them up.

While there, I saw a really cute galvanized metal envelope that you could hang on the wall and fill with paper, flowers, or whatever goodies you wish. If I am remembering right, it was on sale for around $6.00 at the time, so I totally purchased it for my craft room! I haven’t hung it up as of yet, but it is currently displayed near my peg board. I stuffed a few finished cards inside for keeping until I can figure out where I want to place it permanently. My craft room is not really finished in set up. But, I have a vision and it will need to be accomplished in baby steps.

This metal envelope was the inspiration for today’s card project!

I had so much fun making this mini envelope that was similarly shaped to the one I bought. I began with a 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ square piece of white card stock. I folded a corner up about halfway to make the base of the envelope. Then, I just simply folded in the left corner and right corner to meet the bottom panel. I adhered the flaps together where overlapped using liquid adhesive. You could also fold in the sides first and then have the bottom fold up to center. Either way will work just fine. Now, you have made the little pocket space of your envelope! Time to decorate and fill it!

I used many of my premium dye inks from Simon Says Stamp (Duckling, Soft Navy, Winter Sky, and Hot Mama, Teeny Bikini) along with white pigment ink to create a distressed look to my mini envelope. But, how cute would it be to use double sided pattern paper! I’ll try that and maybe use a corner rounder for my edges next time.

I knew I wanted to fill it with beautiful die cut florals; however, all I currently had to use from my craft stash were the gorgeous Winter Foliage dies from Pretty Pink Posh. Could I use some cuts from this set yet create the look of spring time? Let’s try!

I used a few white card stock panel pieces to die cut the winter foliage set. Next, I used my Ohuhu Honolulu series pastel alcohol markers for adding the color to the images. I adhered the floral pieces together and secured it inside the pocket using liquid adhesive.

For the sentiment, I used a small piece of white paper and stamped the word “Hello” from the Woodland Whimsy stamp set by Simon Says Stamp. It was the perfect size to add to the envelope!

For the background, I used a honeycomb embossing folder by Cuttlebug. I embossed an A2 sized card panel and left it white for a simple and clean background. I secured the finished background panel and mini envelope to an A2 sized card base.

To finish this card design, I found a small butterfly leftover from a previous card project featuring the Graceful Butterfly embossing folder and die set by Simon Says Stamp. I dabbed it with some VersaMagic pink petunia chalk ink and added it to the front of the envelope along with a little pink satin ribbon bow.

I created a butterfly body and added some bling to the bouquet using some bright Stickles glitter glue. I used silver glitter Stickles to add a bit of shimmer to the perimeter of the mini envelope and to adhere a collection of bubble mix to the card front. This is when I discovered that you can change the color of your bubble mix by using any color Stickles as the adhesive. Turn them into glitter gold, red, blue, etc. as you wish by simply adding some Stickles. I loved it!

FUN TIP: You can change the color of your clear bubble embellishment mix by adding any color of Stickles glitter glue as the adhesive.
Turn the clear bubbles into glitter gold, red, blue, etc. There are so many fun colors!
My favorite bubble mix is by Little Things by Lucy’s Cards.
