Handmade Bookmarks | Fun Valentine Keepsake Gift For School | Plus Bonus Lawn Fawn Card Project

Today, I thought I would share a fun handmade bookmark project focusing on Pretty Pink Posh’s Thoughtful Greeting sentiment stamp set. I just love all the endearing sentiments included in this set. Side note: I also made a box of notecards using different sentiments from this set as a Christmas teacher gift (along with a coffee gift card, of course!).

For this project, I decided to use the sentiment “I Thank My Lucky Stars For A Friend Like You” to make Valentine’s for my son’s class at school.

Because his grade had just wrapped up Book Fair week, I thought some bright and colorful bookmarks would be super cute for his classmates to receive as a keepsake Valentine gift.

I cut the color card stock bookmark panels about 10 inches long and corner punched the ends. I then cut the white bookmark panels about a quarter inch or so smaller. I didn’t strictly measure.

I began by stenciling blue clouds to each white panel using Simon Says Stamp Blue Jay premium dye ink and the Waffle Flower Crafts slimline cloud stencil.

I then used my Misti stamping tool to position my sentiment and tiny star stamps. I used Tsukineko Versafine Claire nocturne ink to achieve a crisp and dark impression. I quickly made some stars from silver glitter card stock using a small star punch and adhered them with liquid adhesive amongst the clouds.

To complete the bookmarks, I hole punched at the top and added little tassels made from white cotton yarn.

My son loved all the colors and silver glitter stars added in the clouds. He signed his name to the bottom of each bookmark and paired it with a lollipop to gift to all his classmates.

We can’t wait for tomorrow!

Bonus Card Project | For The Teacher

Hooray for a bonus card project! Since I was sharing about the bookmark valentines, I thought I would go ahead and share about the card made for the teacher.

Can I just say that I am having so much fun using my Arteza mini pastel watercolor set. I used the blues in the set to make this fun striped background. I die cut the panel using a Waffle Flower Crafts nesting stitched rectangle die and paired it with an outer frame leftover from a previous Valentines card project. I layered the watercolor panel in black card stock to help balance the colors.

The penguins are from Lawn Fawn’s Toboggan Together stamp and coordinating die set. I have used this adorable set many times this year. Even though the images are the same, each card I make takes on its own little story. I love it!

I used my pastel Ohuhu Oahu pastel alcohol markers to color the penguins and then added some highlights using a white gel pen. I absolutely love ALL the pastel colors of this alcohol marker set. I popped up these cute little penguins on the card panel using foam adhesive squares.

For the tiny pink flower, I had a small pink paper embellishment flower in my craft stash that I cut in half, folded and glued together for the teal penguin to hold. I then cut a sliver of lime green card stock to make the flower stem and leaf. I topped the petals with a little Stickles glitter glue.

To finish the card, I chose the sentiment “sweet wishes” and coupled it with the hearts both from the Lawn Fawn Milk and Cookies stamp set.

Thank you for joining me today! I hoped you liked today’s projects.
