Mama Elephant Up With Love | Bold and Bright Colors for a Trio Card Project

I have such a fun card project to share with you today.

But first, I thought I would post a decluttering update! Over on Instagram, I mentioned that I started this journey at the new year. At this point in time, my Christmas decor is still waiting to go in the attic. It is all boxed up, but just technically not back where it needs to go. It’s on my to do list but has been placed on the back burner a time or two. I probably shouldn’t have started decluttering before getting Christmas put away, but I did. It’s been a bit overwhelming and it’s a messy process, but I’m happy to report progress is being made. I’m here to say, if you are in the same boat as me, let’s decide to just breathe in some grace. The housework will get done, and it will feel great when it does! You have to take it in stride and of course leave a little time in the week for some crafting fun, right? It keeps us smiling.

Yesterday, I was grocery shopping to prepare a few meals for the week ahead and decided to grab a bag of lollipops for my son’s class at school. As I was perusing the Valentine goodies, over to the side I saw… EASTER candy! Now, we all need to agree that it is too early for Easter candy. (I do admit I love those Cadbury eggs and a good bunny stamp set.)

I digress, but it actually leads me into today’s card project! One of today’s cards has a bunny on it; however, it is holding a heart balloon, so I’ll allow it. 🙂

I’m excited to share a trio set of bold and bright cards featuring Mama Elephant’s Up With Love stamp set with the coordinating creative cuts. I love all these cute images, and they were super fun to color.

For card # 1, I used my Simon Says Stamp premium dye inks in Hot Mama and Audrey Blue for stenciling a duo heart background from Waffle Flower Crafts. I then used a rectangle die to cut out a panel of black card stock and a stitched rectangle die to cut out a panel of aqua card stock and layered them under the heart stenciled panel.

I stamped and die cut the little fox and bird along with a few mini hearts. I used my Ohau Ohuhu alcohol marker set to color the images. Don’t they look so cute holding their little balloons? To finish, I used Tsukineko Versafine Claire nocturne ink to provide me a clean and crisp sentiment, “Sending You All The Hearts”. I popped this sweet message towards the center of the card and adhered five jewels around the design. I also adhered a light purple cut of paper to the inside of the card to accent a personal message.

Card #2 and #3 both feature the Simon Says Stamp geometric lattice embossing folder. This folder gives immense texture! So beautiful in white, but also oh so pretty with the yellow card stock. I noticed a little bit of cracking on the yellow paper. So, next time I will take a moment to spritz the card stock paper with a little water to help the paper fibers relax a bit before embossing.

The bold colors continued as I brought in a true red and aqua card stock panel for layering. Wow, my eye catches on that green balloon! Sentiments “You Make My Heart Soar” and “Somebody Loves You” along with some added jewels and white gel pen highlights complete both of these card projects.

All of the sentiments in this stamp set are great and I like that you even have one stating the classic “Happy Valentine’s Day”.

I learn a little bit more about blending each time I color with my alcohol markers. Sometimes I don’t have a middle color in a set to help me easily transition from light to dark colors. But, I make it work, and I’ll keep practicing!

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you have an amazing day!
